- Make sure your domain is active and reachable.
- The domain should be fully spread across the internet (1-2 days after dns address entry), and BigBlue's DNS servers are entered correctly for the name.
- Some ISP's dont allow mail to be sent through anything but their own Mail Servers. If you are recieving timeout errors, and there is no connection being made to BigBlue's Email servers, contact your ISP to see if they block port 25. If they do, you can change your outgoing mail server to point to your ISP's mail server.
- Make sure that the username in the account's email address does not contain capital letters.
{Example: John@thisdomain.com <-- incorrect, john@mydomain.com <-- correct}
- If you have exceeded your quota, this will cause email problems. To verify this, log in to Control Panel (www.yourdomain.com/cpanel), and on your left, you will see 'Disk Usage' and 'Disk Space Available'. You can also check this like so: Email->Email Accounts->On the account you will see a 'Show Disk Space Used'. If you do have Disk Space availble, then you can add more space to the email account by modifying the Quota on this page as well.
If you dont have anymore Disk Space available, you can contact BigBlueHost regarding raising your disk limit.
- Make sure you know the correct password for the Email account.
- You can add an email account through Control Panel, and add that in to your Email client for testing.
- The following pictures will help you verify that Outlook is configured properly.
